SSC: Number of women benefiting from maternity insurance rise to 50,000
AMMONNEWS - The Social Security Corporation (SSC) said that the number of women benefiting from maternity insurance rose to 50,000 for a total of JD54 million compared to 26,000 and for a total of JD34 million at the end of 2017.
Spokesperson of the SSC Musa Subaihi said that maternity insurance aims to provide protection and safety for the insured in the private sector. 'This motivates employers to employ women and refrain from terminating their services in the event of marriage due to the importance of the role of women in participation in the labor market, thus contributing to economic and social empowerment,' he added.
Subaihi said that more than 23,000 Jordanian housewives have joined the social security umbrella through voluntary participation, and 7,000 others have been granted pension through their voluntary participation.
