Foreign ministry clarifies to Israeli embassy circumstances of Israeli flag incident
AMMONNEWS - A spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs has said that the Israeli embassy in Amman contacted the ministry asking for clarifications over a photograph showing the State Minister for Media Affairs walking on an Israeli flag on the way to an official meeting at Amman’s Professional Associations headquarters last Thursday.
Ambassador Majid Qatarneh, the ministry of foreign official spokesperson, said chargé d'affaires of the Jordanian embassy in Tel Aviv, Muhammad Hamid, met with Israeli foreign ministry officials over the issue.
Qatarneh added that the Israeli side was informed that the building is a private building and that the minister entered the place through the main entrance to attend an official meeting. Qatarneh voiced the Jordanian government's respect of the peace treaty with Israeli.
He added that the ministry is dealing with this issue through diplomatic channels and in accordance with the rules applicable in such cases.
