Cabinet discusses needs of governorates, solutions to problems facing them
AMMONNEWS - The Cabinet held a series of meetings over the past few weeks during which it was briefed by governors and heads of governorate councils in Balqa, Irbid, Ajloun, Jerash, Zarqa, Tafila and Karak on the needs of these governorates as well as challenges facing them.
The Cabinet will continue its meetings with the governors and heads of the governorate councils of Mafraq, Aqaba, Madaba, Ma'an and the capital over the next few weeks, to check on their needs and means to address problems facing them and find solutions to these problems.
In response to the demands of the governorate councils, the necessary amendments have been made to the Public Administration Law to enable ministers to grant the powers conferred upon them by law to the secretaries-general of the ministries, heads of departments, public institutions or senior officials of government departments in the ministries.
The step aims to strengthen the decentralization approach, and to grant the governorate councils the necessary powers to enable them to perform their duties in the best manner.
