Authorities foil attempt to smuggle 500,000 narcotic pills
AMMONNEWS - Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) personnel have foiled an attempt to smuggle over 500,000 illegal narcotic pills through a border crossing outside the Kingdom by a cargo vehicle and arrested two suspects, according to the Public Security Department (PSD).
Spokesman of the PSD, Col. Amer Sartawi, said the AND received tips on plans of a group of people to smuggle a large quantity of narcotic pills through a border crossing outside the Kingdom by a cargo vehicle.
Sartawi noted investigation efforts over several days led to unveil details of the drug quantity hidden in a stones freight vehicle.
When the truck arrived the border crossing, the cargo was seized and about half a million narcotic pills were found within the stones shipment.
Two people were arrested and two others involved in the case were identified as a manhunt is underway to nab them, he said.
