AMMONNEWS - The Lower House of Parliament on Thursday referred three draft laws to its legal panel, in the last extraordinary session.
In the session, chaired by its Speaker, Atef Tarawneh, the House referred the 2018 Cyber Crimes bill, which triggered parliamentary controversies as it affects freedom of speech and media. It tackles 'offences' in the use of social platforms, especially damage to national unity, extortion, and fraud.
The House also referred the draft law amending the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Law, which seeks to 'strengthen the independence of the Jordan Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission board's chairman and members,' and to empower them assume their role effectively.
The House also referred the amended Illicit Gains aims to promote the values of integrity, transparency, and accountability, and expand the scope of the categories subject to the provisions of Illicit Gains Law.
