FM participates in ministerial meeting to strengthen Arab cooperation
AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Affairs Ayman Safadi on Monday participated in the Arab ministerial meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The meeting discussed ways of enhancing Arab cooperation in various fields.
The Arab ministers agreed on the need to strengthen coordination and joint Arab action to deal with regional crises and t serve Arab issues and interests.
Safadi briefed the Arab ministers on the Kingdom's efforts to enable UNRWA to overcome its severe financial crisis, the latest of which is the conference to be held next Thursday, to mobilize financial and political support for the UN agency.
Jordan is co-sponsoring the conference with Sweden, Germany, Japan and the European Union, and Turkey as the current Chairman of the agency's Advisory Committee, and with the participation of countries, international bodies and organizations, in the presence of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
The foreign minister also met with the US President Special Envoy for the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, Brett McGurk, in a meeting that stressed the need for continued efforts by the international community to defeat terrorism.
Safadi also participated in the Global Call to Action on the World Drug Problem, which was opened by US President Donald Trump, in the presence of several representatives of countries.
