AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, on Monday followed up on a tactical exercise carried out by the Public Security Department's (PSD) Investment Protection Unit at the King Abdullah II Training City in Muwaggar.
The Investment Protection Unit was set up as part of the King's relentless efforts to attract investment through creating a safe and attractive environment for investments and investors in the Kingdom within the framework of the rule of law and promoting Jordan as a safe and stable country.
The unit, which was established under a royal directive, is responsible for implementing, securing and meeting all forms of protection and security needs for investment and investors.
On his arrival at the training site, King Abdullah was welcomed by the Prime Minister, Interior Minister, Minister of State for Investment Affairs and the Directors General of the General Intelligence, Public Security, Gendarmerie and Civil Defense departments.
The Supreme Commander, in the presence of HRH Prince Rashid bin Al Hassan, was briefed by the training commander about the various aspects of the drill and how to deal with potential security situations.
His Majesty viewed various displays by the unit's personnel, including live fire, fitness and martial arts as well as air landing from PSD aircraft.
The Supreme Commander expressed his satisfaction with the high level that the PSD recruits had achieved in terms of preparedness, performance and capability in the field to deal with various situations and emergencies and respond to them quickly and efficiently.
He expressed his pride in the PSD personnel as the first line of defense for the citizens and their efforts to serve the public and protect their rights and freedoms, and safeguard national achievements.
On the sidelines of the exercise, King Abdullah met with PSD Director General Maj. Gen. Fadel Al-Hamoud, who briefed him on how police deal with various situations and his security agency's future plans to improve the level of police service.
The public security chief said his agency is working in accordance with the King's vision and directives to protect investments and a safe and attractive environment for business due to its importance to the economy and the national development drive in cooperation with all concerned authorities.
