Momani: Jordan achieved progress in press freedom indicator
AMMONNEWS - State Minister for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani said Jordan has achieve progress in press freedom indicator due to the precise implementation of media laws and legislation.
In a session on the role of the judiciary in enhancing press freedom that was organized by the UNESCO Office in Amman on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day, Momani said that the independence of the judiciary is one of the constants of the Jordan state as it defends freedoms and the values of the society.
Discussions during the session focused on the importance of having a legal environment for press freedom and shedding light on the role of the independent judiciary on enhancing freedom of opinion and expression.
UNESCO representative in Amman Farina Costanza, who opened the session, said the event focuses on the importance of free and independent press and implement the 2030 Sustainable Development Plan that was approved by Jordan and world countries in September 2015.
