AMMONNEWS - Jordan ranked 62th out of 131 countries in the Global Knowledge Index (GKI) report / 2017 and as the best Arab country outside the Gulf region.
According to the report, released by the regional office of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) during the Knowledge Forum in Amman on Sunday, Jordan occupied the 34th rank in higher education among 131 countries / the second rank in the Arab World.
The forum, held under the patronage of Minister of Education Omar Razzaz, brought together representatives from different ministries, ambassadors, journalists, researchers, professors, students, and representatives from private sector institutions.
The report, launched by (UNDP) in partnership with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, concluded that Jordan's performance was 'good' in terms of economy and information and communication technology (ICT), adding that Jordan ranked fifth in both sectors in the Arab World.
The GKI is composed of six sectoral indices: Pre-University Education; Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET); Higher Education; Research, Development and Innovation (RDI); Information and Communications Technology (ICT); and Economy; in addition to a seventh supporting index on the General Enabling Environment.
Razzaz stressed that the results achieved by Jordan reflect the kingdom's keenness to move ahead and accomplish advanced positions, especially in the education sector.
He said that the Ministry of Education is seeking, in cooperation with all partners, to develop the various components of the educational process.
