King receives message from Cote d'Ivoire president
AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II received a message from the President of the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire on ways of enhancing bilateral ties and fostering coordination, conveyed by Ivory Coast Foreign Minister Marcel Amon-Tanoh during his meeting with Foreign and Expatriates Minister Ayman Safadi on Thursday.
During the talks, Safadi and Tanoh discussed the future steps to boost economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, which have intensified contacts in recent years with the aim of launching wider cooperation prospects.
On a related context, the two ministers also looked into ways to develop cooperation in defense and security fields.
To achieve this bid, the two ministers agreed to develop specific mechanisms to increase cooperation in the pharmaceutical, agriculture and trade sectors and to mull agreements that could give the momentum necessary to step up joint economic cooperation.
They also agreed the two sides' competent authorities assume holding meetings between the private sectors' representatives.
The two ministers also reviewed regional developments, with eye to the Palestinian issue and the Syrian crisis and discussed efforts to fight terrorism as they said is a common danger that must be defeated in the region and in West Africa.
Safadi briefed Tanoh on the King's efforts to achieve security and stability in the region through a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the basis of a two-state solution that guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on 4th June, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
On Syria, he also briefed the guest on Jordan's efforts to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis that preserves the country's unity and territorial integrity, in which it should receive acceptance of the brotherly Syrian people on the basis of resolution 2254.
Tanoh, for his part, thanked the Kingdom for its support for his country and lauded its key role in supporting its stability as it participated in the UN peacekeeping forces. He stressed keenness to continue consultations with Amman on all regional issues, especially as his country now occupies a non-permanent seat at the Security Council.
