Tarwaneh : Jordan a model of human rights dialogue
AMMONNEWS - Government Coordinator for Human Rights, Basel Tarawneh, said the gov't's efforts are 'ongoing and continuous' to follow up on the implementation of Jordan's obligations to the Human Rights Council on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR).
Speaking to Petra Thursday, he announced consultations and meetings with community stakeholders are continuing to produce a Jordanian national report that suits the country's leading role in the field of human rights.
To this end, coordination forums are held between state institutions and all authorities, as national dialogue on all human rights issues is 'a remarkable model,' he added.
Consultations are a Jordanian commitment to comply with directives of His Majesty the King, who instructed all authorities to give human rights network priority and attention, and the gov't to follow up implementation of a comprehensive national human rights plan within a consultative approach.
As for Jordan's report to UPR, he said an important official meeting will be held next Sunday to study the future bill's form and content and to discuss the official and national replies on enforcing relevant recommendations to produce the report's first draft.
This effort reflects seriousness of the state institutions in promoting, developing and supporting human rights network and following up the country's national, regional and international obligations in a consultative and dialogical manner with all parties, he affirmed.
