AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi on Sunday met with UN Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths and discussed the latest developments in Yemen at the political and humanitarian fields.
Safadi affirmed Jordan's support to efforts of the special envoy, stressing the Kingdom’s support to legitimacy in Yemen represented by President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi.
Safadi underlined the importance of reaching a political solution to the Yemeni crisis, restoring security and stability and putting an end to the suffering of the Yemeni people in accordance with outcomes of the national dialogue conference, the GCC initiative, and relevant UN Security Council decisions, especially Resolution 2216.
Griffiths, who has succeeded recently the United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, commended Jordan's efforts to reach a political solution to the Yemeni crisis, stressing keenness to continue coordination and consultation with the kingdom. He also valued the transfer the office of the special envoy of the UN secretary general to Yemen to Jordan to continue efforts aimed at restoring security in Yemen.
