AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, visited the Public Security Department (PSD) headquarters on Monday and met its Director General Maj. Gen. Fadel Al-Hamoud.
During the meeting, the King stressed the importance of the PSD's role to protect citizens, to preserve their dignity and rights, and to boost the rule of law.
His Majesty also stressed the need to continue the PSD's restructuring process to improve its performance.
His Majesty, moreover, stressed the importance of continuous training of the PSD's personnel to upgrade their capabilities to enable them perform their tasks efficiently and professionally.
On a related context, the King said the PSD's teams should be fully prepared and able to deal with various situations, expressing confidence in the ability of the public security apparatus to combat crime and to preserve prestige of the state.
Maj. Gen. Fadel Al-Hamoud during the meeting presented a briefing on the PSD's most important plans and future aspirations aimed to improve level of police and security services provided by the public security personnel and to build on what has been achieved, in a bid to maintain the security network and to prevent and combat crime, as well as to ensure law enforcement on everyone in light of His Majesty's vision contained in the sixth Royal discussion paper.
Maj. Gen. Al-Hamoud pointed out to the imminent launch of the Public Security Strategy for the years 2018-2020 simultaneous with the restructuring of all public security units, in addition to studying development of the PSD's work mechanisms and duties in various units and departments in direct contact with citizens to keep pace with security and community developments, and to ensure better and easier services are provided to citizens.
He said the PSD is pushing ahead with carrying out its noble mission in accordance with the directives of His Majesty, and added its personnel will remain soldiers of the right and a resort to whoever seeks their support to implement justice of the law impartially and objectively and on the basis of respect for dignity and human rights.
