AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Hani Mulki on Tuesday patronized a ceremony to present the 2017 State Awards to individuals and institutions in the fields of literature, arts, sciences and children's literature.
The event, which took place at the Royal Cultural Center, was attended by Minister of Culture Nabih Shukmm, Youth Minister, Hadithah Khreisha, intellectuals and government officials.
This year's winners of the poetry prize are Yousef Abdulaziz, Taher Riad and Maha Otoum, while Nabil Mashini and late Mohammad Qabbani won the arts prize, the King Hussein Cancer Centre received the award for pure and applied sciences in cancer treatment and the children's literature prize went to Haya Saleh.
The culture minister said that the award, which his ministry diligently provides since 1977, was part of a general culture aimed at supporting creativity and innovators.
He added that the ministry, through its diverse ventures, seeks to incorporate various science categories into the award and build bridges of cooperation with different components of society and institutions.
