AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Thursday, held talks with British Prime Minister Theresa May, who is currently visiting Jordan, on bilateral ties and the latest developments regionally and internationally.
His Majesty, in a press release before a one-on-one meeting at Al Husseiniya Palace followed by expanded talks, welcomed May's visit, and said, ' We are glad of your second visit to Jordan this year, and we appreciate this attention, also I thank you and all the British institutions for the distinctive level of coordination, last week a delegation representing British institutions paid a visit to Jordan.' His Majesty said, ' I discussed with the prime minister ways to boost our economy's resilience, and this is an important issue and we highly appreciate this effort in helping us to deal with challenges we face in the region, with regard to the political level we have always worked in harmony, and that is a very good matter.' For her part, May in a press release, said that her country enjoys a deeply rooted ties with Jordan, in addition to the strong security ties, voicing her country's support to Jordan 2025 vision.
The meeting touched on burdens imposed on Jordan, where His Majesty stressed the need to implement the London Donors Conference outcomes towards hosting countries, particularly Jordan.
Talks also dealt with the efforts to inject a new life into peace process between the Palestinians and Israelis, based on the two-state solution.
Fight against terrorism was on the meeting agendas, as His Majesty and May stressed the need to fight this phenomenon within a holistic approach.
On Syria, the two sides stressed the need to build on Astana talks to reach a political solution based on Geneva track.
On Iraq, the achievements made by the Iraqi government in the fight against terrorism, as well as, the victories which were achieved by the Iraqi army were figured high during the talks.
May commended Jordan's role, under the leadership of His Majesty, in dealing with crises in the Middle East region, as well as, bringing about peace and security in the region.
