Supreme Commander patronizes graduation ceremony at Royal Military College
AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, on Monday patronized at the Royal Military College the graduation ceremony of the first batch of the Knights of the Future officers.
The King was greeted by a 21-gun salute on arrival at the college, where he was welcomed by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Maj. Gen. Mahmoud Freihat and the college's commander, Brig. Gen. Salamah Al-Othman .
The ceremony began with the national anthem and then the Supreme Commander reviewed the parading graduates.
In a speech at the ceremony, the Mufti of the Armed Forces, Brig. Gen. Majid Al-Darawsheh said Jordan will remain a model for moderation and a fortress against any malicious designs. He said a group of elite officers, the Knights of the Future, is graduating after receiving military sciences and leadership training.
In his address, the college's commander said: 'It is a blessed day when we present a gift to the country, a group of future knights to the fields of honor, pride and dignity, having acquired training and rehabilitation that qualifies them to be distinguished officers in the field'.
The Royal Military College, he said, is constantly developing along with the updated training programmes of the armed forces, noting that the largest part of the practical training was tactical exercises in different regions of the Kingdom 'to upgrade the officers' performance according to the vision of His Majesty the Supreme Commander'.
The King handed over the awards to the outstanding graduates towards the end of the ceremony, which was attended by HRH Prince Hashim bin Al Hussein, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense, top civic and military officials and foreign ambassadors and military attaches.
Representing the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, head of the Human Resources and Logistics Support, Maj. Gen. Aref Al-Zabin, handed diplomas to the graduates, among them was an officer from Bahrain.
Since its establishment in 1950, the Royal Military College has been providing the armed forces of Jordan and Arab countries with officers armed with military sciences and knowledge. The Knights of the Future program came upon royal directives, including the revision of the course of military service and rehabilitation of officers in order to have an impact on performance, efficiency and professionalism.
