AMMONNEWS - Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yaroub Qudan said that the government had reached an agreement with a US firm to establish a logistical airport in the city of Mafraq, 80km northeast of Amman.
In remarks during the opening of the Third Silk Road Conference, which is organized by the Palestinian-Jordanian Business Forum, the minister said that a logistical center will be established in the Mafraq region to become a major base for reconstruction in the region.
Qudah, who opened the conference, on behalf of Prime Minister Hani Al Mulki, said the government will implement recommendations of conference that will contribute to promoting bilateral ties and removing obstacles facing cooperation among businessmen.
He urged businessmen to examine economic opportunities in the region and leave the issue of addressing challenges to governments.
The government he added prepared and approved a package of legislations that help in improving the business environment in the Kingdom including laws on companies, inspection and monitoring, financial securities, intellectual property among others.
Chairman of the Palestinian-Jordanian Business Forum Talal Albo said the government, under royal directives, enact laws and legislations that help in providing facilities needed by investors inside and outside Jordan.
He said the presence of businessmen from 30 countries affirms that Jordan is full of investment opportunities and is an attractive and secure investment destination.
Albo said that forum, which comprises 250 businessmen, has shouldered the responsibility of serving the Jordanian economy and promoting the Kingdom as an investment destination.
President of the Jordan Businessmen Association Hamdi Tabba voiced hope that the conference, which is attended by 500 businessmen from 30 Arab and foreign countries, will succeed in promoting the Kingdom as a regional investment center and exchange expertise among participants.
The belief of the forum in its role in serving and supporting the Jordanian investment and economy, the organizers of the Silk Road Conference with first and second editions in 2014 and 2015, were able to provide a platform for presenting investment and commercial opportunities to achieve the royal vision of making the Kingdom of Jordan a home for business and investment.
The two conferences resulted in many partnerships and commercial deals that were signed in the conferences which exceeded 18 million Jordanian dinars with more than 300 trade deals between businessmen from inside and outside the Kingdom of Jordan.
The participants will have the opportunity to present their investment projects at the conference and to participate in the bilateral business meetings and to market their products and projects on a wider scale.
