Jordan adamant on fighting terrorism, says minister
AMMONNEWS - Jordan remains adamant to fight all forms of terrorism and extremism within a holistic and strategic approach, Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani said Wednesday as the nation marks Thursday the 12th anniversary of the 2005 Amman Bombings which claimed the lives of scores of innocent people.
The minister stressed in a statement that the painful anniversary strengthened Jordanian's resolve to fight blind terrorism, adding that the terrorist attacks were meant to harm the true image of Islam and sought to destabilize the country which proved to be an impregnable fortress against terrorism.
Momani emphasized that Jordan was and will continue to be at the forefront of nations fighting terrorism through its participation in the international coalition against terrorism. He indicated that the Kingdom embarked on a comprehensive strategy to combat terrorism and extremism, adding that the war is not only a military one but also an ideological war.
'The determination of our military and security agencies and the unity of our people are important factors to fight blind terrorism,' Momani said, adding that the media has played an effective role in exposing the ideologies of terrorism that are alien to our religion.
On November 9, 2005, Al Qaeda terrorist group targeted three hotels in Amman, killing and injuring dozes of people.
