PM briefs US delegation of economic challenges facing Jordan
AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Hani Al Mulki on Sunday, received Governor of the US State of Utah Gary Herbert currently visiting Jordan at the head of a delegation to take part in an economic forum attended by Jordanian and US businessmen.
The forum aims to explore investment opportunities in the Kingdom and means to set up joint projects between the business community in both Jordan and the United States.
During the meeting, which was attended by State Minister for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani and State Minister for Investment Affairs Muhannad Shihadeh, Al Mulki said the forum is a step in the right direction as it will help in achieving common goals and sustain economic ties between Jordan and the United States in general, and Jordan and Utah business community in particular.
He said that Jordan, which signed free trade agreements with the US, Arab countries, the EU, Singapore and Turkey could be a destination and serve as starting point for businesses, trade and reconstruction in the whole region.
During the meeting, the prime minister also reviewed the economic challenges facing the Kingdom due to the current situation in the region and the hosting of 1.3 million Syrian refugees.
He also pointed to the comprehensive reforms carried out by the Kingdom in the political, economic and administrative fields and voiced Jordan's willingness to benefit from the US experience in vocational and technical.
Al Mulki also expressed Jordan's appreciation of the US support to the Kingdom's development process.
The governor of Utah praised partnership between Jordan and the United States as well as the Kingdom's efforts to promote democracy.
