AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces on Monday visited the Public Security Department where he met with its director Major General Ahmad Sarhan Al Faqih and discussed with him a number of security issues and developing police work.
During the meeting, the King voiced pride in members of the PSD as well as their role in preserving the security and stability of Jordan.
He said the relationship between security personnel and citizens should be based on mutual respect, noting that the message of the public security is to protect citizens and enhance the rule of law.
Commenting on a recent incident in Irbid, His Majesty said that it is a separate incident that does not represent the security agencies, adding that anyone who violates the law should be held accountable.
The King said that preserving the accomplishments of the homeland is the responsibility of all, adding that it is not acceptable to tamper with assets and achievements of the country for any reason.
King Abdullah highlighted the need for continuous training of PSD members to enable them to carry out their duties in a more competent and effective manner. He also voiced his confidence in security personnel in fighting crime and preserving the state's prestige.
During the meeting, His Majesty was also briefed by the PSD director on a number of security issues, the department's executive plans and measures taken to develop and improve services offered to citizens.
His Majesty also attended separate exercises carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Department, the Royal Department for Environmental Protection and the Preventive Security Department with the use of modern techniques.
