AMMONNEWS - Anti-Narcotics Department officers arrested a number of suspected drug dealers and promoters and seized large quantities of drugs during raids and searches across the Kingdom over the past few days, according to the Public Security Departmet's (PSD).
The PSD's media unity said in a statement that the raids were part of a crackdown on drug-related activities of trading, promoting and smuggling.
It said that the anti-narcotics operations included the arrest at a border crossing of two people, one of them holding an Arab nationality, who planned to smuggle in drugs. It said the vehicle they used was seized and 100,000 drug pills were found stashed inside.
In the Central Badia region, police were tipped off that unidentified persons had used a plot of land, far from populated areas, as a marijuana plantation and that those involved were apprehended and the property confiscated, said the statement.
It also reported similar raids in Ruseifeh, southern Amman and Karak in which several people were nabbed.
