King met Trump advisers before presidential transition
AMMONNEWS - Trump advisers Michael Flynn, Jared Kushner and Steve Bannon secretly met with the king of Jordan during the presidential transition, according to a report.
The trio met with King Abdullah II at the Four Seasons in downtown Manhattan on Jan. 5 before heading somewhere else, Buzzfeed reported Friday.
King Abdullah, who later visited Trump officially in April, said on his website at the time he had a “private visit abroad.”
One federal official told Buzzfeed that among the topics discussed was the so-called Marshall Plan to build dozens of nuclear power plants across the tumultuous Middle East.
Flynn was involved with advocating the private-sector plan, and continued to do so during his brief tenure in the White House despite disclosure forms saying he had quit, the Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week.
The adviser later resigned from the administration over questions about his contacts with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the transition, and is also under investigation for receiving money from Kremlin-backed broadcaster RT in late 2015.
Russia’s was initially heavily involved in the Middle East nuclear power plan, which included plants in Saudi Arabia, though the WSJ reported it had recently become more American-driven.
