AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II made a surprise visit to the Amman Customs House where he checked on progress of work and the level of services offered to citizens, investors, expatriates and cargo vehicles.
During a tour of the facility, His Majesty was briefed by Director General of Jordan Customs Department (JCD) Wadah Hmoud on measures taken by the department to provide better services to citizens and investors, and automate its services.
The King stressed the need to facilitate customs services to citizens and investors in order to improve the business environment, achieve better economic growth and job opportunities. He said the Economic Stimulation Plan defined measures needed to develop customs work.
During the visit, King Abdullah voiced appreciation of efforts exerted by the Jordan Customs Department to serve the country and its citizens. He also praised the role of custom personnel and their sacrifices to prevent smuggling, mainly drugs.
His Majesty was accompanied by the Royal Court chief, the director of the King's Office and the minister of finance.
