Jordanian-Sudanese joint committee convenes in Khartoum
AMMONNEWS - Jordanian Prime Minister Hani Mulki and his Sudanese counterpart Bakri Hassan Saleh have co-chaired the joint Joranian-Sudanese Higher Committee, which convened today in Khartoum.
At the outset of the meeting, Mulki praised the bilateral ties, which always receive support from the two countries' leaderships. He added that current challenges facing the Middle East urge all countries to work together to overcome these challenges and build a better future for tomorrow's generations.
Mulki reiterated that the Palestinian cause remains the core of conflict in the region and a top interest, given the recent Israeli unilateral and provocative measures in the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Haram Al Sharif. Jordan, he added, will save no effort to defend the Palestinian cause and will press ahead with its endeavor to reach a just solution to the Palestinian issue.
On bilateral ties, the Jordanian prime minister noted the cooperation agreements and protocols with Sudan in various fields. He also underscored the need to exert more efforts to promote these ties and overcome economic challenges, arising from the geopolitical developments in the area.
In his speech, Mulki spoke about a number of areas where the two countries can improve their ties, including the investment, transport, agricultural, food and trade domains.
On his part, the Sudanese prime minister highlighted the depth of ties between the two countries, reiterating his country's keenness to boost these ties in various fields.
At the end of the meetings, the two countries signed 10 agreements, protocols and memoranda of understanding to promote cooperation relations at different levels.
An agreement was signed to activate a joint business council between the Jordanian and Sudanese business associations as well as chambers of commerce and industry. The two countries also signed the executive program for cooperation in social development and another program for vocational training for the years 2017-2020.
Agreements also covered the industrial and mineral resources sectors as well as a youth program, and a MoU in electricity, renewable energy and energy efficiency fields.
Mulki and his Sudanese counterpart signed the minutes of the meeting and held a press conference afterwards. During the press statements, the two premiers spoke about the main issues discussed earlier in the day.
