In Dubai, your smartphone can now also act as your passport
AMMONNEWS - Previously, forgetting the passport on the way to the airport was a huge dilemma, and could result in a number of consequences.
However, the official app, UAEWallet, solves such dilemmas with its new service that allows UAE residents the luxury of using an app through their smartphones to get through e-gates and passport control, Gulf News has reported.
In order to use the official app, residents departing from the Dubai International Airport are required to register personal details and provide a fingerprint for security and identity reasons.
It has been reported that the app has gone through numerous security checks, making it impossible to hack or misuse.
The app launch is the first of its kind in the world making Dubai the first to have turned “paperless passports” into a reality.
UAE residents departing from the Dubai International Airport must not forget that because Dubai is the first to launch such an app around the world, therefore, the idea of a “paperless passport” vanishes when entering other countries. So do not actually forget the passports at home until all countries are on board with the official app.
