AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Hani Al Mulki on Thursday, met with a delegation representing the United States House Committee on Appropriations, led by the committee's Chairman MP Harold Rogers.
The meeting, which was attended Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Imad Fakhoury, State Minister for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani, Finance Minister Omar Malhas and the US charge d'affaires in Amman, dealt with Jordanian-US ties and means to further boost them in various fields.
The prime minister highlighted the strategic ties between Jordan and the US as well as Jordan's keenness to further enhance them in various domains.
Al Mulki voiced Jordan's thanks appreciation of the support provided by the United States to Jordan.
He also reviewed the economic challenges facing the Kingdom due to the current situation in the region, the impact of the Syrian refugee crisis on Jordan, in addition to closure of the borders that has negative impact on the Kingdom's exports.
The prime minister called for providing more support to the Kingdom and boost its economic and military capabilities to enable it to preserve security and stability and continue its positive role in the region.
He also voiced hope to renew the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the U.S. economic and military aid to Jordan.
Al Mulki stressed the important role of the US to bring the Palestinians and Israelis to the negotiating table in cooperation with Arab countries in order to achieve a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.
Talks during the meeting also dealt with efforts to fight terrorism and extremism as well as the need for concerted efforts to eradicate extremist and radical ideologies.
Head and members of the delegation praised Jordan's role under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, to bring about peace and stability in the region and fight terrorism and extremism.
They also voiced their keenness to forge closer relations with Jordan in the interest of both countries and peoples.
