Arab Parliament opens meet on regional challenges, support for Palestinians
AMMONNEWS - The Arab Parliament Saturday opened its second annual meeting at Arab League headquarters in Cairo to discuss the situation in the region and Israeli violations against the Palestinians.
The meeting, including heads of Arab parliaments, will tackle the role of Arab parliaments in supporting Palestinians to reinstate their legitimate rights and set up their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
A three-member Jordanian delegation, led by Lower House Speaker Atef Tarawneh, is attending the meeting, which will adopt a document that will be sent to Arab leaders at the annual Arab summit, which will be held in Amman in late March. The document includes the Arab parliaments' vision on addressing key challenges posed to the Arab world.
Also high on the agenda is 'the extraordinary' conditions facing the Arab world that required intensifying joint efforts and ways to deal with the thorny issues and pressing challenges and threats to pan-Arab security due to the growing menace of terrorism.
