AMMONNEWS - Matador, an international travel and lifestyle brand, has placed Jordan top of a list of 35 global tourist attractions for this year, noting the Kingdom's stability amidst a turbulent region.
In its '35 of the World's Best Places to Travel in 2017', Matador, a network which redefines travel media with cutting edge adventure stories, photojournalism, and social commentary, said Jordan is a place of supernatural beauty and a completely safe oasis isolated from the instability of the Middle East.
Matador, the world's largest independent travel publisher with over 12 million visitors a month, published images, the Ultimate Jordan Road Trip, citing six reasons to travel to the Kingdom, including its people, Petra, food, Wadi Rum, the history and the Red and Dead Seas.
It published 20 images of Petra, the Red Rose city in the country's south, one of the world's seven wonders, adding that Petra 'is so ancient you could use the Bible as your guidebook rather than a Lonely Planet'.
'Imagine Yosemite as a desert with super luxury tented camps. That's a bit how Wadi Rum feels', the network said, citing Yosemite, a national park in California's Sierra Nevada.
Beyond these obvious destinations, there's also Al Salt, Jarash and Amman, it said, adding: 'Travel here with an open mind, and get ready for a hospitality that will blow away any expectations'.
Jordan ranked number one on the Matador list and was followed by Los Angeles, Epicentre of Southern California, Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, Sisimiut, Greenland, Peninsula Valdes in Argentina, Hamburg, Germany, Faroe Islands, Auckland, New Zealand, Dominical, Costa Rica, Montreal, Canada, Portmagee, and 24 others.
