Foreign minister discusses ties with EU, Norwegian officials
AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi discussed on Thursday in Davos with EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini preparations to hold the second regional forum of the Union for the Mediterranean, which will kick off in Barcelona next Monday.
The forum, chaired by Jordan, will be held with the participation of foreign ministers and representatives of 43 countries.
During the meeting, the two officials underlined the importance of the forum, which will explore means to better activate the and promote its role to launch developmental and economic projects in the Mediterranean countries.
They also discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the Syrian crisis and efforts to solve it. The meeting also touched on the ramification of the Syrian file on Jordan. In this regard, Safadi stressed the need for the international community to provide more support to Jordan, as the Kingdom grapples with the repercussions of the Syrian refugees.
Safadi and Mogherini reviewed the ties between Jordan and the EU, stressing keenness to bolster them in various domains.
These issues were also discussed during the meeting held between Safadi and his Norwegian counterpart Borge Brende. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
