Jordan says Security Council vote proof that world is against settlements
AMMONNEWS - Jordan described on Saturday the Security Council vote condemning Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories as “historic” and shows that the international community is against settlements and supports Palestinian rights to their land.
Government spokesman Muhammad Moumani said the vote of 14 in favor and one abstention is proof that “the international community is on one hand convinced that settlements are illegal and, on the other, the Palestinians have right to their land.”
He told the Jordanian news agency Petra that this decision also affirms Jordan’s historic decision and efforts opposed to Israeli settlements as main obstacle to peace and the two-state solution.
