Interior minister, US official discuss security ties, Mideast
AMMONNEWS - Interior Minister Salamah Hammad and US Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees and Migration Anne Richard Sunday discussed bilateral cooperation in the security, political and economic fields.
They also discussed developments in the region as well as the consequences of the Syrian crisis at the regional and international levels, and said the two countries are on the same page regarding the common challenges.
On the Syrian crisis, Hammad said Jordan, as a host of a large number of Syrian refugees, cannot continue such a humanitarian role without aid from the global community, given the huge strain they place on national resources.
The US official said Jordan is a pivotal player to bring about regional peace and security, stressing deeper cooperation between the two countries.
Richard also voiced her country's support to Jordan to overcome the ramifications of the Syrian crisis.
