Interior Minister pledges support for GAM ventures
AMMONNEWS - Interior Minister, Salamah Hammad, Sunday stressed that his ministry and security agencies fully support the developmental ventures carried out by the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) as part of its participatory approach with national institutions.
He spoke at a meeting with Amman mayor Aqel Beltaji and senior municipality officials, the Public security chief and the Amman and Zarqa governors to discuss projects undertaken by GAM.
'The Development the capital is witnessing, including the launch of service and productivity projects, and the rising number of its population required laying the necessary plans to overcome the difficulties arising from these, namely traffic congestions and environmental and health hazards', said Hammad.
He added that the meeting reflects the government's and the Amman Municipalicity's response to the royal directives and its keen interest to give due attention to the city's image and the appearance of its entrances, particularly the main roads.
He referred to preparations now underway to launch the Rapid Transit Bus project that would ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
Beltaji said the meeting was designated to addressing a host of environmental and health problems and the random communities spread over many areas of the capital in order to rehabilitate and develop them.
He stressed that the Interior Ministry and security bodies had a key role to facilitate the municipality's work to achieve the aspired-for development.
