Jordan presses ahead with conducting parliamentary polls: minister
AMMONNEWS - State Minister for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson, Mohammad Momani, Wednesday, said that Jordan is moving ahead steadily to hold the upcoming parliamentary elections despite turmoil in the region.
During a visit to the Independent Elections Commission (IEC), Momani, who was accompanied by Petra's Director-General, Faisal Shboul, Jordan Media Commission Director General Amjad Qadi and Director of Jordan Television, Mohammad Tarawneh, commended efforts of the IEC through disseminating information, including advertisements and explanatory videos that contribute to familiarizing citizens with the electoral process.
Momani also stressed support of the Jordanian official media to efforts of the IEC to ensure the success of upcoming polls.
IEC President Khaled Kalaldeh, said the commission was 'opened to all official and private media outlets'.
He also said the commission works to reach out to all segments of the society to ensure the success of the elections.
