Planning minister, WFP official discuss cooperation
AMMONNEWS - Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Imad Fakhoury, on Sunday, discussed with the World Food Program WFP Representative in Jordan Abdul Majeed Yahya, ways of enhancing joint cooperation, especially in projects currently underway that aim to serve Syrian refugees.
According to a ministry statement, the two officials discussed work progress in the WFP and projects that are currently underway, both at the national level or projects that serve the Syrian refugees in order to mitigate pressure on the Jordanian government.
Yahya said the WFP will move from the policy of temporary-effective emergency services to sustainable development programs that serve Jordanian citizens and local communities affected by the Syrian refugee crisis in order to reduce the impact of the crisis on them.
The WFP Representative gave a briefing on projects implemented in other countries, noting that Jordan's strategic location makes it possible to launch projects that will transform the Kingdom into a regional hub to support the activities of international organizations and bodies in neighboring areas.
