Jordanian National Orchestra, Italian artists, UNESCO team up to make music in Petra
AMMONNEWS - A new album featuring Italian trumpeter and composer Luca Aquino and the Jordanian National Orchestra will be launched at a concert in Petra on July 23.
The initiative is a joint effort between UNESCO, the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organisation, the Jordanian National Orchestra Association and the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority, the organisations said in a joint statement released Wednesday.
The album emerged from Aquino’s “passion for using natural acoustic reverberations in archaeological sites to enhance musical composition”, the statement said, and was produced by Talal Abu-Ghazaleh International Records. Proceeds from the album, titled “PETRA”, will support the Petra site and the Jordanian National Orchestra, according to the statement.
The cultural endeavour is supported by UNESCO as part of its Unite4Heritage global movement, which urges citizens to stand up against extremism by celebrating cultural places and traditions, the statement added.
