King receives Coptic Metropolitan of Jerusalem and Jordan
AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, Sunday, received His Eminence Metropolitan, Anba Antonious, on the occasion of his enthronement on the seat as the Coptic Metropolitan of Jerusalem and Jordan.
At the meeting, attended by HRH Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, Chief Advisor to HM King Abdullah for Religious and Cultural Affairs and the King’s Personal Envoy, King Abdullah congratulated the Metropolitan on his appointment to the post and wished him success in promoting dialogue and understanding among followers of different religions.
The talks also covered ways to increase the visits of Coptic Christians of Jerusalem, Iraq, Syria Kuwait and the Near East to Christian holy places in Jordan, namely the Baptism Site.
In turn, His Eminence appreciated the King's role in preserving the holy sites in Jerusalem and the identity of the holy city as well as supporting the steadfastness of Jerusalemites.
He also hailed Jordan as a role model in co-existence between Muslims and Christians, as well as the kingdom’s efforts to promote peace and stability.
