Russia, U.S. agree to start coordination of anti-terrorist efforts in Syria
AMMONNEWS - Russia and the United States have agreed to shift from information exchange to coordinated efforts in the fight against terrorism in Russia, and practical issues are being discussed between defense agencies of the two countries, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
'We did not come to terms with our American partners right away, we had to overcome their doubt, reasoning or even resistance in order to shift from information exchange to coordination of efforts in the fight against terrorism. These practical issues are now being discussed between our defense agencies,' Lavrov said, replying to a question from Interfax.
'As you know, there are permanent communication lines between the Russian Hmeimim base and U.S. representatives stationed in the Jordanian capital city; of course, there is a direct line between Moscow and Washington and there is a round-the-clock Russian-U.S. rapid response center in Geneva,' he said.
