Al Qadi: Decentralization asserts adherence to comprehensive reform approach
AMMONNEWS - Interior Minister, Mazen Al Qadi, Saturday, said that the decentralization law came to affirm commitment to a comprehensive reform approach that seeks gradual and steady progress in line with His Majesty King Abdullah's vision.
Addressing a meeting of administrative governors on decentralization, Al Qadi said the gathering is part of a social participation being held as an to exerted efforts on raising awareness on decentralization law.
Organized by the Interior Ministry in cooperation with the US Agency for International Development (USAID), the meeting revolves around two topics. The first deals with familiarizing the governors on mechanisms and procedures to be followed all the way to the optimal application of the law, and raising the level of professionalism of those in charge of its implementation.
The second topic focuses on adopting awareness programs on local community's essential role in establishing criteria for determining priorities and needs, as well as the direct participation in the decision making process, Al Qadi said.
USAID Mission Director for Jordan, Dr. Jim Barnhart, spoke about the importance of linking citizens with their governments, through policies in which citizens participated in their formulation.
He stressed his agency's support for 'this reform project until it comes into force.'
