Appeals court rejects ruling against extradition of terror suspect
AMMONNEWS - The Amman Court of Appeals Tuesday overruled a decision taken earlier by the magistrates court not to extradite a Jordanian to France as a suspect in a bombing at a restaurant in Paris in 1982.
The magistrates court had earlier ruled against extraditing Nizar Hamadah to French authorities to face charges of committing murders connected with terror groups that took place in Paris 34 years ago, on the grounds of a lack of the conditions for the extradition after over three decades.
Today's appeals court decision taken at a hearing, presided over by judge Ali Abu Hjeileh with two other judges as members, was to allow the prosecution general and defence lawyers to complete their files and submit their testimonies. The lawsuit was sent back to the magistrates court 'for this purpose, in order not to miss a step in the litigation process'.
The general prosecution had challenged the decision not to hand over Hamadah at the appeals court.
