AMMONNEWS - The Senate Sunday endorsed the 2015 integrity and anti-corruption draft law as passed by the Lower House.
Under the bill, a new integrity and anti-graft commission will be set up, as a 'legal successor' to the Audit Bureau and the Anti-Corruption Commission, whose key task is to guarantee compliance with national integrity guidelines in the public administration, combatting corruption and addressing the complaints of those who incurred damages.
According to its mandating reasons, the draft law also aims to instill the principles of justice and accountability and enhance improved performance to achieve the public good, as well as counter character assassination and pursue anyone who commits an act of corruption.
Also according to its rationale, the bill would enact the set of values and rules of conduct in public administration and ensure their integrity, combine efforts in the field of reform, press ahead with modernising and developing of state institutions and unify the references with regard to national integrity and combatting corruption matters.
In its session, chaired by vice president Marouf Bakhit and attended by cabinet ministers, the Senate also passed the 2010 temporary public transport law after conducting some amendments.
