AMMONNEWS - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas briefed United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Sunday on the latest developments in the Palestinian territory.
Presidential spokesman Nabi Abu Rdeina told Ma'an that the two men met in the Jordanian capital Amman, and that Abbas brought up the issue of daily Israeli detention raids, and continued settlement activity.
Abu Rdeina added that Abbas and Ban discussed Palestinian efforts to bring forward a UN resolution condemning illegal settlement activity in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem --deemed illegal under international law.
Abbas also spoke about 'constructive' French efforts to organize an international peace conference this summer to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Abu Rdeina emphasized Abbas' support of the conference, and thanked Ban for visiting the Palestinian refugee camp of Nahr al-Bared in Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Ban stressed the importance of keeping the two-state solution alive, and maintaining international support for the political process.
