AMMONNEWS - The Lower House, Saturday, endorsed a draft law, under which an Integrity and anti-Corruption body would be set up as a legal successor to the Audit Bureau and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Under the 2015 Integrity and Anti-Corruption bill, the new body, where the Ombudsman's Bureau and ACC staff will move, will work to ensure adherence to national integrity criteria in public management, combatting corruption and addressing the complaints of those who incurred damage.
The passed bill regards as corruption the following: crimes of abuse of office, crimes of breach of public confidence stipulated in the penal code, economic crimes, Illicit fortune, failure to declare or disclose investments, properties or benefits that may lead to a conflict of interest, any act or refrain that would affect public money or shareholding companies and non-profit associations, abuse of power, accepting nepotism by public employees, using ex officio information for personal benefits, in addition to corruption offenses specified in the international conventions ratified by the Kingdom.
