Jordan to install cameras in Al-Aqsa Mosque this week
AMMONNEWS - A Jordanian company will install cameras in Al-Aqsa Mosque this week, the country’s Endowment Minister Hayel Dawood revealed, noting that all preparations for the installation are ready, the Anadolu Agency reported yesterday.
Dawood said the Israeli occupation has no role in the process and Jordan is paying for the work. He did not state when the cameras would become operational.
A few days earlier, Jordanian Information Minister and government spokesman Mohamed Al-Momani said the cameras would enable the 1.7 billion Muslims around the world to see Al-Aqsa Mosque and the worshipers inside.
According to the official Jordanian news agency, Al-Momani said the cameras would monitor extremist Jews and Israeli police not the worshipers inside the mosque. In this way, the Israeli violations could be documented.
“This will refute the Israeli claims that Palestinians provoke the settlers and the Israeli police,” Al-Momani said. “This will prove to the world that Israel is the side which violates the status quo, it will also prove that Israel’s claims that it maintains the status quo are lies.”
Jordan and Israel agreed on 25 October 25 2015 to install cameras in Al-Aqsa Mosque.
