Momani: Jordan's position on Syrian crisis most realistic
AMMONNEWS - State Minister for Media Affairs and Government Spokesman, Muhammad Momani, said Jordan's stance on the Syrian crisis is realistic and strategic as the Kingdom made it clear from day one that the crisis can only be resolved through a political solution.
Speaking in dialogue session at a conference on the Syria refugees crisis and sustainable development in the Middle East here in Amman, the minister said the approach Jordan has embarked on to address the Syrian refugee crisis is a source of pride to all Jordanians as the Kingdom opened its borders to those fleeing the war and provided them with a safe haven.
The minister stressed that the international community is required to stand united to address the refugees crisis and offer adequate assistance to host countries which continue to bear the brunt of the refugee crisis.
Henry Wooster, deputy chief of mission at the US embassy, spoke about the support his country extends to the Syrian refugees and efforts exerted by U.S. authorities to collect donations and deliver them to the refugees. He noted that the U.S. provided assistance worth $5 billion to a total of 4 million Syrian refugees.
