US opens center to speed vetting 10,000 Syrian refugees
AMMONNEWS -The United States has established a temporary refugee processing center near Amman, as part of the effort to reach President Obama's goal of admitting at least 10,000 Syrian refugees into the US by September 30, 2016, a U.S. embassy statement said Thursday.
It said operations at the center are now underway and access to the site is restricted by invitation to potential resettlement candidates.
'We are grateful to our Jordanian partners in making this possible and for their generosity in hosting Syrian refugees', the statement read.
