17,744 illegal guest workers rounded up since beginning of 2015
AMMONNEWS - Inspectors of the Labour Ministry had apprehended around 17,744 illegal guest workers and closed 1,446 workplaces violating labour laws since the beginning of this year, a ministry source said on Sunday.
According to the ministry Secretary General, Hamada Abu Nijmeh, around 36% of the illegal labourers work the agricultural sector, 15% building guards and 13% construction sector, he added.
The official revealed that the ministry has issued 9,071 tickets to institutions found in violation of the law.
Abu Nijmeh said the ministry will continue its inspection campaigns, calling on all guest workers and business owners to comply with the law.
