Jordan Buys 9 Swiss Pilatus PC-9M Training Aircraft
AMMONNEWS - Switzerland’s Pilatus Aircraft has won a contract from Royal Jordanian Air Force (RJAF) for the purchase of nine Pilatus PC-9 M training aircraft.
The Swiss company announced today that the order also includes a simulator, training equipment and a comprehensive logistics support package.
The RJAF has opted for the Pilatus PC-9 M as it provides an up-to-date, high performance, cost-effective system for basic and advanced pilot training for modernising its pilot training facilities.
Pilatus has won the deal against several other international competitors and it was chosen in the final round by the Royal Jordanian Air Force for PC-9 M over all other aircraft.
The PC-9 Ms acquired by the RJAF will be ready for delivery from January 2017 for training the pilots tasked with flying the latest generation of military jets.
The PC-9 is the evolution of the Pilatus PC-7. Its PC-9's first flight was made in May 1984 and then achieved certification in September 1985. In the same year, the first production orders for the type were received from the Royal Saudi Air Force, with deliveries commencing in 1985.
