Jordan exports 100,000 tons of fruits, vegetables in June
AMMONNEWS - The Kingdom's exports of vegetable and fruits during June amounted to 100,000 tons or an increase by 10.7 percent from the same period last year.
According to a report issued by the Ministry of Agriculture, exports during June rose after a decline seen at the beginning of 2015 due to the closure of the Syrian markets in March.
Summer fruits represented 37.6 percent while vegetables amounted to 62.4 percent of exports.
The Arabian Gulf markets accounted for the lion's share of the exports with 94 percent followed by Iraq with 3.8 percent, European countries with 1.6 percent, apart from Egypt with 0.3 percent and Israel with 0.3 percent.
Exports volume during the first half of 2015 reached 391,000 tons with an estimated value of JD230 million compared with 461,000 tons last year, a decrease of 15 percent.
