Al Karama border crossing open and safe: Interior Ministry
AMMONNEWS - The Ministry of Interior has said that events that occurred Saturday near the Iraq’s Trebil border, led to technical failures and stopped movement toward Jordan's Al Karama border crossing, which is still open and functioning as usual, according to a statement issued by the ministry.
Three suicide bombers detonated three car bombs Saturday at the Trebil border point with Jordan, killing five Iraqi border guards and wounding more than ten, according to official sources at Iraq’s Anbar province.
The statement said that eight injured persons had been transferred to Jordan, in coordination with Iraqi officials, to be treated at the Al Karama Health Center, where they had been administered necessary first aid and sent back to Iraq. Two others were transferred to the northern Ruwaished Hospital. One of them died of his injuries and his body will be transferred from Queen Alia International Airport to Iraq, while the other is undergoing treatment.
The statement stressed that the Jordanian – Iraqi border is secure and security agencies there are fulfilling their role to the fullest.
