Justice minister calls for strengthening international cooperation to combat cross-border crime
AMMONNEWS - Minister of Justice Bassam Talhouni has stressed the need to strengthen regional and international cooperation to combat cross-border and organized crime, prevent new forms of crime and address them in a comprehensive and balanced manner.
Justice minister, who presided over the Jordanian delegation to the Thirteenth United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, held in Doha, called for implementing comprehensive strategies to prevent crime and achieve justice, in order to strengthen the rule of law.
Talhouni also called for enhancing crime prevention and criminal justice to address sophisticated forms of crime, such as cyber crimes.
The Doha conference, which will last until the 19th of April, examines the best way to integrate crime prevention and criminal justice in the UN agenda, to address social and economic challenges and strengthen the rule of law at national and international levels.
About 5,000 participants from 142 countries took part in the conference that falls on the 60th anniversary of crime prevention and criminal justice promotion conferences.
